found this awesome girl on etsy who makes amazing jewelry. i love her aesthetic. ive bought a few pieces from her and they are even better in person. so good in fact, that i know for a fact that erin wasson bought one of her pieces. im really happy for her. yay for independent designers!
so check out her site here... rackk and ruin. buy some stuff!
she also has the raddest blog. it gives BLEACH BLACK a run for its money.

redheaded step child
i feel badly. i have neglected this blog. traded it in for cosmic dust.
we all change, move on, grow into something new. find new ways to express our creativity.

"shake the dust"
nothing i say here could be better what than anis mojigani's words.
”rock out like jimmy has returned carrying brand new guitar strings!”.

come one, come all

if any of you are in the LA area on march 6th, come on by gallery space at space 15 twenty. kime buzzelli will be having a solo show called Disappear Here: The Art and Fashion of Getting Caught in a Dangle.
it will include an installation and artwork by kime.
the opening reception will be on march 6th from 6-9 with a live performance from hecuba and a few dj's.
from an insider, i have heard of some pretty cool ideas she has, so it should be a really fun show.
if you cant make it for the opening on the 6th, the show will be running through april 5th, so stop by and check it out!
and since i just read the sad, sad news of her shop show pony closing after 9 years, this may be your last chance to experience her magical world in this way.

her farewell closing sale of show pony...

the gift that keeps on giving
i know, i know. i cant stop singing yeasayer's praises. but, just when i thought i was done, out comes "tightrope". available on the dark was the night compilation that benefits the Red Hot Organization, an international charity dedicated to raising money and awareness for HIV and AIDS through popular culture.
Tightrope - Yeasayer
and i know ive already posted this take away show, but here is the "tightrope" version again. genius.
a fever for fever ray
i heard fever ray on sirius the other day. if you havent heard them before, i highly recommend just buying their self titled debut album. the album is haunting, and creepy. there is something about it that is so familiar. however, the video for "when i grow up" is so beautiful, and almost disturbing, that you feel like you are seeing something you shouldnt. it makes me wish it was a feature length film.
"keep the streets empty for me" is my favorite song so far...

stolen again...
my lovely friend posted this idea on her blog, advice from a caterpillar.
i actually also have a friend that does this. whenever i see him, he asks me what the best part of my day is. i am always so taken aback by it, and even more startling, i am taken aback by how hard it is sometimes for me to find the best part. so not ok. so, im gonna try it everyday. i ma going to force myself to find the positive, even when it all seems like a big mess.
today:
best part: breakfast burrito
worst part: dreading tomorrow

still alive...but barely
the past few months have been intense. i have been working so hard i have hardly had time to do any do the basics, like laundry, let alone post anything at all on this blog. i will be back as soon as things settle down, including some updates on what ive been up to. in the meantime, this video is a poor excuse for a post, but is so cute. i love all animals, but cats will always hold a soft spot for me, and cat videos are always so much more entertaining...

dusty trails

sometimes this blog overwhelms me. i have so many images stored on my computer that this is actually the second computer i have filled up the hard drive on. its really ridiculous. i often dont have time to gather everything together with any kind of cohesion. so what do i do? i start a second blog! i have no plans of ending this one, but the new one is for short thoughts, single pictures, stuff that i find, that i love, and none of it has to make any kind of sense.

a year.

just when i start to think that i am all alone. which happens especially on my birthday. that magic marker of time that always seems to let the little voices in my head say, "hey you, guess what? you are another year older my friend. yes, you. another year, and what did you do?"
Next time you make a wish, sessann, wish for what is, because really and truly, things don't get much better than this.
There is a purpose, a plan, and a reason for all things. What doesn't make sense, will make sense. You are exactly where you should be; your challenges are what they should be; your rewards are what they should be; and the best is yet to come. Time has served you well. Love is in the air. And you're looking mighty good in the light that now surrounds you.
A toast to life... to you... to us...
The Universe
precisely what ive been thinking lately universe. thanks.

boyz
found some really amazing boy written, "boy" inspired blogs. im a girl. yeah, duh, i know. i am attracted to the girly and whimsical, but sometimes i wish i were a boy. to wear, vintage levis, old scuffed red wing boots, hat, flannel. funny things is, its not much different than how i actually dress. these blogs written by men are genius for whatever you fancy. a few of my favorite images from these blogs listed below...

entrance to the past
guy blakeslee from the entrance band and maximilla lukacs' laurel canyon home was recently featured on the selby.
maybe its laurel canyon. it takes me back to my childhood, having spent half of my youth there, while the other half was spent growing up in venice. i have always felt a strong connection to that place. the sunlight is different there. it smells of eucalyptus trees, which is still to this day, one of my favorite smells. the canyon walls cradle you against the city that it inhabits. it is another world, its own world. heck, it may as well be another continent. a self-contained neighborhood/nature retreat nestled in the hills, winding streets and trails that you can easily get lost in. walking to the canyon country store, which has been there since the 60's and still remains to this day, coyotes, and squirrels outside of your door.
that canyon has quite a history. when LA became the breeding ground of the impromptu collection of musicians that spearheaded the counterculture movement of the 60's. the canyon was once the home and inspiration to an enclave of musicians working together and separately, such as, carol king, jimi hendrix, arthur lee and his band Love, keith moon, crosby, stills, and nash, jim morrison, the rolling stones, dusty springfield, neil young, the byrds, just to name a few! joni mitchell was inspired to write "ladies of the canyon" there, and graham nash wrote "our house". several other songs were written and recorded there, such as, "california dreamin’", "suite: judy blue eyes", and "its too late".
it has a kind of magic. its in the air and has been since that time. you can feel its energy, its spirit.

a few song samplings from the entrance band for you. enjoy...

p.s.
word to the wise: the last time i saw them perform at spaceland, guy threw up twice on stage during the very first song between verses. he left the stage after the song was over, came back, got on the mic, and apologized to the audience, stating that he drank a bunch of absinthe before coming out. i remember thinking, that is either really awesome, or really twisted. my guess is he was probably on more than just absinthe.
p.p.s.
check out michael walkers book appropriately titled laurel canyon for the history of this magical place.
p.p.p.s. this post is a little schizophrenic, but it makes sense in my head.
